Research at FLSHASE

Research at FLSHASE is focusing on the major challenges that today’s – and tomorrow’s- society is facing. The Faculty’s main objective is to analyse and accompany societal developments in social, political, educational and cultural areas. This objective applies to research as well as study activities.

The Research Units (RU)

The Faculty is made up of four Research Units (RU):  

  • EMACS (Educational Measurement and Applied Cognitive Science)
  • LCMI (Languages, Culture, Media and Identities)
  • INSIDE (Integrative Research Unit: Social and Individual Development)
  • IPSE (Identités. Politiques, Sociétés, Espaces)

The University's research focus area

The FLSHASE is committed to research in the field of “Education and Learning in Multilingual and Multicultural Contexts ”, which is one of the  University’s five main research focus areas .

The Faculty’s four research programmes (R1 to R4)

Within the faculty research is organised into four research programmes called R1 to R4. Several of these research programmes contribute to the faculty’s research priority (see below R3 additionally R1.1. R1.2. R2.2. R2.3.)

Each programme is subdivided into several research domains.

R1 Luxembourg Studies (RU IPSE)

  • R1.3. : National, Crossborder and Regional Governance
  • R1.4. : Spatial development, Urbanism, Architecture

R3 Educational Sciences  (RU LCMI / EMACS)

R4 European Governance (RU IPSE)
