Recommendations to prevent infectious diseases

The health, welfare and safety of students and staff is the top priority for University management following the Coronavirus (COVID-9) outbreak. Everyone can help too.

Please protect yourself, your colleagues and students and practice precautionary measures to inhibit the spread of infectious diseases.

  1. Please wash your hands frequently with soap for at least 30 seconds, or use hand disinfectant
    Regularly and thoroughly cleaning your hands with an alcohol-based hand rub or soap and water will kill viruses that may be on your hands.
  2. Practice good respiratory hygiene – cover mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing, use tissues and dispose of them correctly;
    Small droplets spread viruses. By following good respiratory hygiene you protect the people around you from viruses such as cold, flu and COVID-19.
  3. Avoid close contact with infected persons;
    Maintain at least 1 metre distance between yourself and anyone who is coughing or sneezing. This is important since you may breathe in the small liquid droplets including the COVID-19 virus if the person coughing has the disease.
  4. Avoid touching eyes, nose or mouth.
    Hands touch many surfaces and can pick up viruses. Once contaminated, hands can transfer the virus to your eyes, nose or mouth. From there, the virus can enter your body and can make you sick.
  5. Stay home if you are sick and don't come to work
