Philosophy of Law

The orientation of legal philosophical and legal theoretical research pursued at the University of Luxembourg is definitively inter-disciplinary.

Our research is:

  • on the one hand guided by a number of key continental European philosophical and social theoretical traditions among which phenomenology, critical theory, hermeneutics, discourse-analysis and social anthropology are prominent beacons.
  • and also fundamentally driven, on the other hand, by several of the major modes of political and legal theoretical questioning that became manifest in the course of the twentieth century and remain prominent today.
