Carmen Zurbriggen joined the University of Luxembourg as Associate Professor for Inclusive Education and Learning Difficulties in September 2020. Her main areas of research encompass subjective well-being and emotional experience of students in difficult learning and development contexts, social participation in inclusive classrooms and beyond as well as diagnostics and empirical research methods with a focus of inclusion. Her teaching experience covers teacher training, continued education and study programs leading to academic qualifications.

Prior to her current position, she was a Professor in Educational Science at Bielefeld University (Germany) for three years. From 2009 to 2012, she was a research assistant and junior lecturer at the University of Applied Sciences for Special Needs Education in Zurich (Switzerland). During her doctoral studies, she worked as a research fellow at the University of Fribourg (Switzerland), where she obtained her PhD in October 2015. In winter 2015/2016, she took over an interim professorship in Educational Science at Bielefeld University. Afterwards, she was interim head of the section «pédagogie curative clinique et éducation spécialisée» at the University of Fribourg (Switzerland) for one semester.
