Ivana Paccoud is a PhD candidate in social science at the University of Luxembourg. She obtained her MA degree in Health and Social policy at London Metropolitan University, and has a B.A degree in Social policy and Social Work. Prior to starting her doctoral studies, she worked at a number of charitable organisations on issues related to public health. She is a member of the European Health Parliament – a committee on health literacy and self-care and a member of the young forum Gastein network. Her academic interests are in the fields of health inequalities, health care access, migrant health and intersectionality. Her PhD project is examining the importance of Bourdieu’s economic, cultural and social capital for the effective use of health care services.
