Courses - Training

During their doctoral studies with us, Doctoral Candidates are required to gain a minimum of 20 ECTS credits (under the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System). Doctoral Candidates can do so by engaging in coursework as well as thesis work. The aim is to give them the opportunity to develop skills and useful knowledge for their thesis, whilst at the same time gaining a solid basis for research within your specific discipline, the academic community and society in general.

In accordance with the University’s Study Regulations (art. 49), Doctoral Candidates need to acquire at least 5 ECTS in transferable skills and are required to take at least one course on Ethics – Research Integrity, during their doctoral studies.

Transferable skills course offer

Transferable Skills courses help you to develop core academic skills (e.g. writing research papers, university teaching, giving presentations, etc.) and professional/interpersonal skills (e.g. project management, leadership, conflict management, etc.).

Disciplinary/interdisciplinary course offer

Each programme develops a series of interdisciplinary courses in a variety of different formats (reading groups, traditional courses, intensive courses, lecture series, etc.). These course offers are designed for candidates within the relevant programme.  More information is available on the Programmes’ webpage.
