Maèva Flayelle joined the Addictive and Compulsive Behaviours Lab (ACB-Lab) as a PhD student under the supervision of Prof. Joël Billieux in March 2017. Her ongoing doctoral project, entitled « Disentangling binge-watching behaviours: an exploration of its underlying psychological processes » aims to build an understanding of binge-watching behaviours in the framework of an in-depth exploration of its phenomenology clarifying the unique psychological processes implied in its development and its maintenance, specifically by investigating the role of positive emotions in involvement on excessive TV series watching.
Maèva obtained her Master degree in clinical psychology from the University Paris Diderot (Paris VII) in 2011, and worked as a clinical psychologist with childrens and adults. She investigates psychological implications involved in our relationship to fiction by combining her clinical background with her storytelling education.
Her research interests include:
- Binge-watching behaviours
- Emotional and self-regulation processes
- Behavioural addictions
- Transdiagnostic approach
- Qualitative and mixed methods research
She is member of the International Society for the Study of Behavioural Addictions (ISSBA) and of the Groupe de Réflexion en Psychopathologie Cognitive (GREPACO). She is also associate member of the Laboratory for Experimental Psychopathology (Université catholique de Louvain).”
