Formation Spécifique en Médecine Générale

Objectives

The specific training in general medicine is aimed at:

• learning how to identify the early stages of the disease and to differentiate between common, common pathologies and rarer diseases with a serious or fatal prognosis;
• identifying specific problems in patients;
• carrying out home visits and evaluating the psychosocial environment and integrating these notions into the patient's care;
• acquiring the ability to classify and obtain the notions of primary care medicine;
• learning how to manage situations requiring medical consultation and interdisciplinary care;
• managing emergency situations and learning how to initiate emergency care in an out-of-hospital setting;
• learning the fundamental principles of accompanying patients at the end of their lives;
• proposing patient-centred measures to improve the patient's state of health;
• acquiring the coordination capacity/necessary function as a family doctor and learning to collaborate with existing social services;
• learning how to use medical techniques appropriately;
• developing a critical reading of medical articles;
• acquiring the skills to optimise the doctor-patient relationship by focusing on empathic listening and developing quality relationships with practitioners in other disciplines, allied health professions and social workers.

• integrating all other functions specific to general medicine
• identifying the optimal medical decision, taking into account Evidence-Based Medicine data, the doctor's expertise and the patient's own needs and expectations.

Methods

• tutorials in the form of theoretical courses;
• seminars: discussion of clinical cases, role plays, practical workshops;
• simulation: learning diagnostic and therapeutic procedures;
• internship in the general practitioner's office:
  • getting to know the problems that arise in outpatient medicine ;
  • implementing direct and/or indirect supervision during internships.
