The Foyer Group donated fifty thousand euros to the Luxembourg Centre for Systems Biomedicine of the University of Luxembourg.

On the 19th of February 2018, François Tesch, Chairman of the board of directors, and Marc Lauer, CEO of Foyer S.A., together with Mrs Claudie Stein-Lambert, representing Foyer’s family shareholder, presented a 50,000 euros check to Professor Dr. Stéphane Pallage, Rector of the University of Luxembourg, and to Professor Dr. Anne Grünewald, of the Luxembourg Centre for Systems Biomedicine.

This check ceremony followed the visit of the LCSB laboratories by a Foyer group’s delegation on the 23rd of October. This was an opportunity to attend presentations of Professor Dr. Rudi Balling and Professor Dr. Anne Grünewald, about the LCSB and the ambitious and promising research on the molecular mechanisms of the Parkinson’s disease.

Parkinson’s disease has been and remains the main research topic of the LCSB. Its vision, focused on the patient and on advanced technologies, has already led to improved care and quality of life for Parkinson’s disease patients in Luxembourg. Furthermore, there is great hope for the unique multidisciplinary approach of the LCSB, which will very likely lead to improved diagnosis and worldwide patient therapies, in the near future.

Through this donation, the Foyer Group reinforces its societal responsibility and hopes to help Professor Dr. Grünewald and her team in their “Parkin” protein study that could play a crucial role in the Parkinson’s development. These researchers will be able to deepen their knowledge on the sporadic form of Parkinson’s disease, which represents 90% of cases, and to follow up on their already promising discoveries.

“The work done by Professor Grünewald and her team on Parkinson’s disease is astounding. I must say that this very promising research project has awakened our enthusiasm, that’s why we wished to support it with this donation. This fits perfectly with the values of Foyer and our desire to encourage societal and human projects.” – François Tesch, Chairman of the board of directors of Foyer S.A.
