Project manager for the NCER-PD programme

The research programme of the National Centre of Excellence in Research on Parkinson's Disease (NCER-PD) focuses on improving the diagnosis and stratification of Parkinson's disease (PD) by combining detailed clinical and molecular data of patients with sophisticated bioinformatics analyses and computational modelling to develop novel disease biomarker signatures. Due to the collaboration with outstanding international partners and longitudinal cohorts in Oxford, Kassel and Tübingen, the programme aims to generate an unprecedented insight into the early phase of the disease. Moreover, the LCSB collaborates with all relevant players in Luxembourg, such as the Centre Hospitalier de Luxembourg, the Luxembourg Institute of Health, and the Integrated BioBank of Luxembourg, in order to establish a comprehensive national PD cohort. Within this scope, the LCSB will establish an international platform for secure storage and intensive analysis of PD genome data. With its existing IT infrastructure and expertise, the LCSB plays a pivotal role in Big Data management. Together, the multidisciplinarity of the NCER-PD consortium will form the basis to reach its ultimate goal to diagnose PD at an earlier stage, and with a higher specificity than is currently possible.
