2017 started well for the Scienteens Lab: thanks to the first course of the year, the lab welcomed its 2000th student! A class from the Lycée Technique de Bonnevoie came in to study the effect of UV light on DNA and, with this addition to the – already long – alumni list, the Scienteens Lab reached this impressive milestone.

For the last 3 years, the “Labo fir jonker” has organised around a hundred workshops, allowing more than 2000 high-school students to discover science and to become researchers for a day. To keep up with an increasing demand, the Scienteens Lab will develop its activities further. Two new members will join the team to expand the mathematics and physics courses, additional topics will also be tackled in biology and 62 workshops are already planned for 2017. This means around 990 new students will cultivate cells, measure flow rates or decrypt algorithms this year.

In order to keep in touch with students, teachers and all the science fans, the Scienteens Lab also created a Facebook page. You love science, you want to know what’s new in the lab or to get info about science careers, like and follow us on Facebook!
