Classification, Signage

The books are sorted on the shelves according to Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC).

Example for DDC: the call number field in the "Get this at a library"-tab might show something like "339 Man". This is the code printed on the book spine to find it on the shelf. The three characters behind the figures are the first letters of the author's name or the book title – this helps to further separate the material shelved under the same call number.

The following DDC overview is an example of the main categories in economics, finance and management:

330 = Economics

      330.0151=Mathematical principles

331= Labor economics

      331.01=Philosophy and theory of labor economics

332= Financial economics

      332.1= Banks

334= Cooperatives

335= Socialism and related systems

336= Public finance

      336.2= Taxes

337= International economics

      337.1= Multilateral economic cooperation

338= Production

      338.5=Microeconomics (general production economics)

339= Macroeconomics

     339.2= Distribution of income and wealth

650 = Management

     650.1= Personal success in business

657= Accounting

     657.3=Financial reports (Financial statements)

658=General management

      658.3=Personnel management (Human resource management)
