Wallace A. Martins received his D.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ, Brazil) in 2011. Since 2013, he is a Tenured Associate Professor in the Department of Electronics and Computer Engineering (DEL/Poli) and in the Electrical Engineering Program (PEE/Coppe) at UFRJ (currently on leave). Dr. Martins worked as Academic Coordinator (Electronics and Computer Eng. undergraduate course) and Deputy Department Chairman (DEL/Poli) in the period 2016-2017 at UFRJ. Before joining UFRJ, he worked as Associate Professor at CEFET/RJ (Brazil, 2010-2013).

Dr. Martins is a member (Associate Editor) of the editorial board for the IEEE Signal Processing Letters. He is also an IEEE Senior Member.

He has been Visiting Researcher at the University of Notre Dame (USA, 2008), Université de Lille 1 (France, 2016), and Universidad de Alcalá (Spain, 2018). For more than 10 years, he has been working in consultancy projects to several multinational companies, including Nokia, HP Labs, GE, Siemens, Halliburton, etc.

Dr. Martins has published over 60 papers in scientific journals and conferences and has coauthored the book "Block Transceivers: OFDM and Beyond" (Morgan & Claypool Publishers, 2012). He has collaborated with many brilliant researchers around the world, including the IEEE Fellows Dr. Ronald W. Schafer, Dr. Björn Ottersten, Dr. Marc Moonen, Dr. Paulo S.R. Diniz, Dr. Yih-Fang Huang, and Dr. Amir Said.

He received the Best Student Paper Award from EURASIP at EUSIPCO-2009, Glasgow, Scotland, and the 2011 Best Brazilian D.Sc. Dissertation Award from Capes. Other significant achievements include: coauthor of the Matlab toolbox on adaptive filtering with more than 30,000 downloads; awarded with the Got Energy Talent fellowship from the Universidad de Alcalá (Spain, 2019) in the context of the Horizon 2020 Marie Sklodowska-Curie Actions; awarded with the Productivity Scholarship (Brazil, 2016 and 2019) by CNPq (a Brazilian research council), which is a prestigious national award comprising a salary top-up during 3 years; awarded with the Young Scientist Scholarship (Brazil, 2016 and 2019) by Faperj (a Brazilian research council), which is a prestigious regional award comprising monthly research stipend during 3 years; awarded with Cum Laude degree in the B.Eng. in Electronics (UFRJ, 2007).

Dr. Martins has been supervising many undergraduate, masters, and PhD students in the areas of digital signal processing, adaptive signal processing, graph signal processing, and digital communications. For more information, refer to his Google Scholar page and his personal webpage at UFRJ.

In 2019, Dr. Martins joined the Signal Processing and Satellite Communications group, SIGCOM, headed by Prof. Björn Ottersten.
