Research interests
Digital learning and intercultural communication: Following the Erasmus+ project she coordinated an inter-university French and German Moodle course online. she intends to develop further cross-linguistic and intercultural analysis in an academic context in order to contribute research-based material to the multilingual online platform, Moodle.
Academic writing and peer work: Peer proofreading at doctoral level offers a non-hierarchical, less pressured forum for dialogue and discussion about the meaning of aspects of the text. Exploring consistency in academic writing across various disciplines (history, literature, didactics, biology, medicine, economics, law, etc.) is a central part of this process. Peer proofreading is a driver for acquiring new syntactic knowledge and argumentative strategies. The energy, shared reflection and support generated among peers develops self-confidence and improves written skills.
Plurilingual language acquisition and academic writing: Together with her colleagues Birgit Huemer and Katrien Deroey, respectively course coordinators for German and English, she published a book about learning academic writing skills in a multilingual knowledge environment. In one chapter of the book, they analysed corpora of academic texts in our three languages in order to identify common features that can be taught across all three languages and aspects that are really different in linguistic and intercultural terms.
Language and work: She analysed multilingual practices in professional environments in Hamburg and she is interested in developing a future research project involving the collection of data on the multilingual environment in Luxembourg. She also worked on a project about the development of a framework for the transversal skills needed in the workplace depending on one’s day-to-day situation (the RECTEC+ project). The University of Luxembourg’s contribution to the project was mainly about communication skills, including the use of written and oral skills, the integration of social norms and the application of digital resources.
