Master en Droit Bancaire et Financier Européen (LL.M.)

Testimonial: Hein Alessandra (Brazil)

My name is Alessandra Hein, I’m from Brazil and I had the great privilege of been part of the first class of master's degree in European banking and financial law at the University of Luxembourg in 2007/2008.

In order to talk about my Luxembourgish experience, I must mention, at first, the maturity and personal empowerment that the course gave me. Spending a year in a multicultural university, with professors and students from around the world, certainly changed my perspective and taught me to deal with challenges and differences.

Before going to Luxembourg I had already done a specialization in business management and worked as a lawyer for three years in Belo Horizonte. However, I can say with all certainty that this Master was a milestone in my professional life, which enabled and instructed me not only to deal with the banking and finance, but with international law in general.

The university, through the direction of the Master, spares no effort to provide and offer its students all the support and resources to growth its level of excellence. At this point, I must thank Professor Pierre-Henri Conac who, as the director of the course, gave me unconditional support not only on academic issues, but directed and guided me through the insecurities and doubts that have arisen along the way.

As soon as I returned to Brazil, I was invited to teach international law in an Accounting University. Furthermore, since then, I’ve been working in the office Marcelo Tostes Advogados (, one of the largest offices in the country and, even without dealing directly with the European banking and financial law, I can attest that the course gave me subsidies and experience to work with the International Trade Law as a whole. I currently work with commercial and international contracts, as well as infrastructure projects in the uprising market of Brazil.
