Master in Wealth Management

Description

Wealth management provides services to a wide array of clients ranging from affluent to high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth individuals and families. It is a discipline which incorporates structuring and planning wealth to assist in growing, preserving, and protecting wealth, whilst passing it onto the family in a tax-efficient manner and in accordance with their wishes. Wealth management brings together tax planning, wealth protection, estate planning, succession planning, and family governance.

The Master in Wealth Management (MWM) is designed to educate and train future wealth managers. The two-year programme combines traditional finance subjects with person-, legal- and tax-centric subjects such as client relationship management, estate planning, ethics and international taxation.

The Master in Wealth Management was developed together with the Luxembourg financial centre, in particular the Luxembourg Bankers’ Association Private Banking Group Luxembourg (PBGL), and meets the highest international standards. It prepares students for the job market in different wealth management contexts with an emphasis on the Luxembourg financial centre.

During their second year, students undertake an internship concluded by an Applied Master Thesis, or an Academic Master Thesis, giving them the opportunity to take their first steps in the professional world.

The Master in Wealth Management is a full-time study programme and class attendance is mandatory for all students. Participation in class is graded in a lot of the courses.

(!) Part-time status will not be possible starting from the academic year 2023-2024 onwards.

5 reasons to study wealth management in Luxembourg

  • Programme designed to meet highest international standards
  • Interdisciplinary approach, including courses in finance, law, taxation and client experience
  • Theory and practice: learn from academics and practitioners

Admissions

Students applying for the two-year Master in Wealth Management need to have successfully completed a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent (180 ECTS) in economics, finance, business, management, law, social sciences, or a related discipline.

Since the Master in Wealth Management prepares the students for a job in the financial market in Luxembourg, we just accept students who do the whole Master in Luxembourg. So hence, we do not accept students in the second year of the Master and exchange semester do not make any sense.

The Master in Wealth Management is taught entirely in English but, especially for non-EU students it is important to speak French in order to find a job in Luxembourg, so students should be willing to learn French during the Master.
