The academic year of the Master in Mediation takes place every 2 years. The next academic year will be September 2023.

Language of instruction: French. Fluency in French (level B2) is compulsory, both orally and in writing.

The Master in Mediation is a part-time programme which is primarily aimed at professionals, as it offers the possibility of being taken on the job. The courses take place on Fridays and Saturdays. This Master's course first provides students with theoretical and practical notions of general mediation and conflict resolution. Students then have the possibility to specialise in one of the three partner universities - the University of Luxembourg, the University of Lyon 2 or the University of Murcia. Research is also an important part of the training.

Learning outcomes

The programme aims to develop knowledge in the field of mediation and skills in the supervision and management of social intervention projects.

  • In M1, the student acquires theoretical and practical training in general mediation and conflict resolution.
  • In M2, the student specialises in one of the three partner universities.
    • At the University of Luxembourg, the M2 is a specialisation in Mediation Engineering. The aim is not only to prepare students for the implementation of mediation projects in different fields (school, social, family, criminal mediation, etc.) but also to manage and evaluate active mediation systems. The programme is French-speaking. Nevertheless, an opening to German-speaking training is planned for certain future courses. As far as M2 is concerned, it is obvious that the exchange and the arrival of foreign students will require English as a complementary language.
    • The other partners offer the following specialisations: organisation, family, social (Lyon 2 University); family, school, health, intercultural, administration (University of Murcia).

Job opportunities

Job opportunities depend on the chosen specialisation. Generally speaking, the training allows access to positions that require mediation and conflict resolution skills as well as the ability to set up, supervise and manage social intervention projects.
