Bachelor in Economics

Target audience

The Bachelor in Sciences Economiques is mainly aimed at students from the “Classic” secondary education, especially those who have no aversion to mathematics and abstraction. As an indication, in the Luxembourgish secondary education, these are the main targeted sections: D (Mathematical economics); B (Mathematics, computer science); C (Natural sciences, mathematics).

 

Admission

According to Art. 32 of the Universities Act, access to Bachelor's degree programmes is possible for the following persons:

  • Holder of a Luxembourg secondary school diploma
  • Holder of a diplôme de technicien with successful completion of the preparatory modules
  • Holder of a diploma recognised as equivalent by the Ministère de l'Education Nationale, de l'Enfance et de la Jeunesse.

Linguistic prerequisites: English: B2 / French: B2

Selection criteria

A maximum of 180 people are selected in the 1st year.

Applications are evaluated (individually and in relation to other candidates qualified for selection), according to the following criteria:

  • Relevance of the applicant's academic background and quality/level of academic achievement, assessed on the basis of the transcripts obtained for the current and previous year (last three (3) semesters or last five (5) terms of the high school diploma).
  • Motivations indicated by the candidate, attesting to his/her intellectual curiosity, initiative, readiness to learn and the level of understanding, reflection and foreseeable commitment to the University's programme of study and academic community, assessed on the basis of a letter of motivation preferably written in English.
  • Adequacy between the candidate's expectations and the programme's course offer, assessed on the basis of the motivation letter.

Access to the 2nd and 3rd year of the Bachelor is only allowed to students who have completed and validated the 1st (60 ECTS) respectively 2nd year (120 ECTS) of an equivalent program in a foreign university, and is subject to the evaluation of the Study Directors.

The application must be submitted online and accompanied by a request for Accreditation of Prior Learning Experience in order to access a study program
