Marianne Meyers The MISB study program incorporates highly relevant fields of study with state-of-the-art methodologies. As students we received extensive training in both wet and dry lab approaches and are supported by teachers who are competing at the top of their fields. Additionally, due to the small class sizes, much of the teaching is personalized with access to cutting edge facilities. Many of the teachers in the program are connected to local research institutes, allowing students to not only become familiar with their work but also provides the opportunity to get involved through internships. I would recommend MISB to anyone that is looking for a supportive study environment that prepares them with the prospects of going into further research. |

Panuwat Trairatphisan In recent years, it is getting more apparent that computational analysis of large biological datasets and results interpretations are pre-requisite skills for future biomedical scientists. The MISB program is an entry point to acquire such skills, as it offers both theoretical and practical courses in molecular biology as well as in bioinformatics and Systems Biology. As a previous bachelor graduate in biomedicine, I filled my knowledge gap in computational modelling and analysis of biomedical data in the well-structured 2-year MISB program which subsequently allowed me to pursue my career in the field of computational biomedicine. I recommend MISB as one of the highly suited studying programs for graduates who seek to further continue their careers in biomedical research, both in academia and industry. |

Ganna Androsova I remember myself reading testimonials of the MISB alumni students, which influenced a lot my decision to apply for this Master. Before applying, I met Dr. Sauter (Course Director), who helped me to understand what background is required and gave useful literature recommendations. In this way, I had enough time to prepare my skills for Integrated Systems Biology, as I was graduating from Bachelor in Biotechnology. The best part of this Master program is the applied knowledge from cutting-edge technology. Here, I learned from scratch programming languages such as R (statistics), Perl (database query), and Matlab (modeling). By the time I was graduating from the Master’s program, I had many opportunities to continue my career and I chose a PhD in Bioinformatics. I would recommend applying for this Master course, if you have passion for Mathematics and Biology. |

Maria Pires Pacheco The Master course in systems biology enables students to acquire a high level of expertise in programming, modelling and also wet lab experiments. I was amazed by the equipment available and the techniques taught during the practicals. We performed among others GC-MS and Chip-seq experiments. The limited number of enrolled students enables easy access to the professors and principal investigators that teach in this master. The Master is also very well linked to the Life science research unit and the LCSB, which provide a vast panel of opportunities to do internships or to continue with a PhD in a wet lab or in computational team. The study conditions are optimal, the professors are excellent and supportive and the small size of the classes and of the university facilitate exchange, connection and offer a wide range of opportunities that are not offered by larger universities. |

Maria Liivrand When I entered the MISB program with an environmental science background, I was motivated by a balance in theoretical and practical introductory courses. The essential theory in the first semester helped me to focus on what was crucial for the more intensive study program that followed. In parallel, practical courses for wet-lab and computational approaches allowed me to interlink theory and experimental research methods. We were guided through the frontiers in health sciences and indeed trained within the framework of systems biology. |

Sean Sapcariu The small class size of the MISB program was a great environment to learn, with lots of opportunity for hands-on research. In addition, it did a great job preparing me for a PhD, as I saw a wide variety of different modern techniques in both computational and wet-lab research. Students could do internships with any of the research groups at the LCSB and LSRU, allowing us to really figure out the type of research we wanted to do. Outside of the program, the multiculturalism and multilingualism of Luxembourg makes it a great place to study! I would highly recommend the MISB program to anyone who wants to get a solid start in modern life science research. |
