On 7 May 2015, the Luxembourg School of Finance (LSF) delivered the Master of Science in Banking and Finance diploma to 51 students, and the Master in Wealth Management diploma to 17 students, in the presence of the President of the University of Luxembourg, Professor Rainer Klump, the Dean of the Faculty of Law, Economics and Finance, Professor Stefan Braum, and the Director of the LSF, Professor Christian Wolff.

Out of the 68 students awarded diplomas, 18 of are part-time students and 50 are full-time students. All have completed a 60 ECTS course programme either over two years for part-time students or one year for full-time students. Their studies included approximately 25 courses in finance, law and communication skills, an internship, a Master’s thesis and an academic week-in-residence at a major university abroad.

The graduates of the Master in Wealth Management course are the first to graduate from this course, launched in 2013. The course was developed in collaboration with the Private Banking Group Luxembourg. This first group of graduates benefited from scholarships of Banque de Luxembourg, Bank Degroof, KBL European Private Bankers, and the LSF Foundation. As part of their programme, they completed an academic week at the Singapore Management University in Singapore studying Asian perspectives in wealth management.

5,000 Euro for the best student

The “Prix Pictet”, Prize for the student with the highest marks in the Master in Wealth Management course, was awarded to Linda Sverrisdottir. The award of 5,000 Euros is sponsored by the Luxembourg branch of Pictet & Cie (Europe) SA.

A total of 40 nationalities from all continents were represented among the graduates. Students of the LSF come from all parts of Europe and the entire world, giving the LSF its renowned international character. The graduates represent a diversity of academic backgrounds, including disciplines such as finance, economics, management, engineering, computer science and mathematics.

“We extend congratulations to our graduates for their success. The Master of Science in Banking and Finance and the Master in Wealth Management are rigorous courses, taught in an environment of excellence, that prepare highly-skilled students for careers in the financial and banking sectors, in wealth management or in asset management,” said Professor Christian Wolff, Director of the LSF. “In addition to its international dimension, the Faculty is proud to be part of Luxembourg society. We work hard to provide our graduates with a good balance of strong academic skills and valuable practical experience, both at home and abroad. This combination ensures their competitiveness in their future careers,” added Professor Stefan Braum, Dean of the Faculty of Law, Economics and Finance.
