Veröffentlicht am Freitag, den 27. November 2015
The Choir of the University of Luxembourg will be presenting two classical masterpieces of European baroque music during the “Gloria – A festive winter concert” in Esch-sur-Alzette and Luxembourg, respectively on 4 and 5 December 2015. The University choir, conducted by Julia Pruy and coached by Philippe Partridge, have prepared these representations in collaboration with the Orchestra Estro Armonico and with soloists of the Hochschule für Musik Saar :
The first piece is Johann Sebastian Bach's "Magnificat", a musical setting of the biblical canticle Magnificat. It is scored for choir, five vocal parts—two sopranos, alto, tenor and bass—and a baroque orchestra including trumpets and timpani. It is the first major liturgical composition on a Latin text by Bach. The second piece is Vivaldi's "Gloria", whose words date probably from the 4th century, is an integral part of the Ordinary of the Mass. - - -
