The 100 years of Luxembourg commercial companies law

To mark 100 years of Luxembourg commercial companies law, the University of Luxembourg’s Faculty of Law, Economics and Finance is hosting a two-day colloquium on 15 and 16 October 2015 on the development of the law since 1915, its present state and how it could be modernised.

Topics covered will include the concept of companies, as well as the role of shareholders, capital, management and governance, litigation and regulatory competition, but also comparative experiences highlighted by international experts, controversies surrounding commercial company law and European perspectives.

Luxembourg Minister of Justice Félix Braz will deliver the opening address discussing the future of the law of 10 August, 1915 on commercial companies.

Other speakers among the numerous leading experts from the field and from universities around Europe will include:

  • Prof. André Prüm, founding Dean of the Faculty of Law, Economics and Finance;
  • Jean Guill, Director General of regulatory body CSSF;
  • Robert Scharfe, President and CEO of the Luxembourg Stock Exchange;
  • Leo E. Strine, Delaware Supreme Court Chief Justice;
  • Barttomiej Kurcz, of the European Commission’s Directorate General Justice.
