Would you like to participate in a nice outdoor afternoon event where employees and students of the University of Luxembourg, as well citizens, can discover the south of Luxembourg by bike? Join us for a cycling tour at 12 noon on Friday, 27 May, at the Belval campus!

The PRO-SUD Syndicate is organising a cycling event in order to raise awareness of the public to the everyday use of bicycles. With the participation the University of Luxembourg, Cigl Esch and AGORA, the goal of the “Vëlos-Tour SUD” is to inform citizens, including the students and staff members of the University and all the other commuters working in Belval, about soft mobility.

When?

On Friday, 27 May, PRO-SUD and partners plan to mobilise the different stakeholders of the Southern region for a colourful event to promote soft mobility.

Programme

The "Vëlos-Tour SUD 2016" will be marked by several highlights. Participants will be invited to partake in a lunch hosted by the organisers next to the Maison du Savoir. Lunch will take place in a convivial atmosphere and will be punctuated by speeches in favour of sustainable mobility. The departures will start at 2pm. Arrivals at destinations should occur between 3pm and 4pm. Participants who do not want to return to Belval by public transport will be received in the municipalities with a reception. For those brave enough to cycle back to Belval, this beautiful afternoon will end with a closing party open to all University students and employees, as well as employees from all the other stakeholders in Belval.

Participation

Registration is required to ensure the event is well organised. It is important for the organisers to know the number of bicycles that will be rented, the chosen destinations or the expected returns to Belval. Please complete the online registration form by 29 April 2016.

In the event of poor weather, an alternative programme will be communicated in due course.

If they wish, participants can rent one of the free Vël’OK bicycles at the rental station network, available in eight municipalities of the Southern region. Attention: limited stock! You can choose between « classic » or “electric” bikes for those who like pedalling with less effort. Please note that the Vël’OK is recommended for short distances (its weight is +/- 30 kg). Whilst they are not sports bicycles, Vël’OK bikes are nonetheless robust and reliable.
